Our Deer Friend
Story:
Our friend is in the hospital, they're very sick, we should bring them a balloon to cheer them up! The hospital is like a maze, there's so many doors, the rabbit fortunately remembers what the correct doors look like though. If you pick the wrong door, you'll become lost in the hospital forever, so choose wisely!
This game was developed for Brackey's Game Jam 2024.1 (Theme: "What's Behind the Door?")
CW: contains elements of horror.
How to play:
You will be given a description of a trait of the correct doors, such as what color they are, there can be multiple correct doors.
Click on a door to pass through it, make sure to choose a door before time runs out!
If you choose the wrong door or run out of time, you will lose the game.
The descriptions of the correct door are valid for your entire adventure, e.g. if you are told the correct door is red and later on that the correct door is oval, you should look for a red oval door.

Hello! When I press Space, nothing happens and I am unable to get past the opening screen. Is there a way around this issue? For reference, I am on a Windows computer.

Are we talking about the main menu? If that is the case, you are able to start the game by clicking the door that says “Entry” and “Click me ->” Here’s a picture of that door:

Yes, clicking on the door will cause text to appear that explains which color door to open along with a prompt to press space. Pressing space does nothing
It’s very unfortunate that you have this problem. The game works normally for me on multiple browsers so it is difficult for me to track down the problem. Are you able to share what browser you are using and can you check your browser’s developer console to see if there is any errors?
I was playing the game using the itch.io app, so that may be part of the problem. I will try again tomorrow in a wen browser instead
Thanks for letting me know! That is most likely the problem. I’ll try the itch.io app later today and see if I have the same problem.
I tried the WebGL build through itch’s app and had the same problem as you. There was also multiple graphical glitches that gave us an excellent screenshot to put into our game’s description. Seems like itch app handles WebGL differently compared to web browsers.
I made a Windows build for the game so feel free to try it through the itch app. It should definitely work better compared to the WebGL build.
I like how challenging the game gets near the end, keep up the good work!
